Kayden is 8 years old and it has been 2 years since he received a new kidney from his Aunt Candice
His 5-year old sister Karris just got her new kidney two months ago, on October 23, 2019, from a deceased donor. Both Kayden and Karris inherited congenital nephrotic syndrome, although it did not become apparent until they turned 3 or 4. It is an extremely rare genetic condition, still little understood. Last year there was only 1 other documented case in the world. These past 3 years the family has faced obstacles too numerous to list (including hemodialysis every single night), and the journey has at times been terrifying.
